Atlas, one vol, folio, containing 72 FINELY COLOURED PLATES, including Vicw onthe River Derwent, Tasmania ; View in Sydney Harbour ; Vooloo Moloo, Port Jackson; Beach of Korora-Reka, New Zealand; Portraits of New Zealand Chief and Girl; View of Rio de Janeiro from the Harbour ; La Grande Rue, Rio de Janeiro; Two Views of Valparaiso; View of Macav ; Two Views of Singupore, &c. ** Four hundred pages are devoted to the stay in Van Diemen’s Land, Sydney, and the Bay of Islands, which was reached on the 4th October, 1831. The Kawa-Kawa, many inlets, Korororeka and adjacent country were surveyed and mapped with accuracy and artistic taste during a week’s stay. Jn- teresting account of the natives and missionaries, and of the massacre of Marion and his crew in 1772.” —HockEn. A valuable and important work, full of scientific information. 44 Linschoten (Jan Huygen von) his Discours of Voyages into ye Easte and West Indies, rirst Epition, black letter. engraved title by Rogers, UNIQUE COPY, containing not only all the maps and plates to this edition, but also all those to the Dutch edition as well, totalling 37 plates and engravings, and 30 large maps; also front. and portrazt, sm. folio, orzginal calf, Printed at London by John Wolfe, Printer to ye Honorable Cittie of London (1598) #250 FINE copy, from Chillingham Castle, Northumberland. The condition of the volume indicates that it has been carefully preserved there for over 300 years. Owing to the fact that early mariners found it a source of knowledge for navigation and geography almost all copies are in poor condition from frequent use. With interesting manuscript note :—‘‘John Wolf, the Printer of these Voiages in English was only at the Expence of New Graving the Maps, which are copy d from the Iutch, and this as well as others that appear with tle folding Sheet Cuts of the Indians (which is in number about 30) are taken from the Original Dutch Edition.”
