    and now and then an aperient solntion. After the blue pill had been used about three weeks, it was njecessary to leave it off, in consequence of diarrhoea. INIercurial ointment was afterwards rubbed upon the belly, but with no advantage. The tender state of the belly continued; the emaciation went on rapidly; her nights were ex- cessively restless, and the pulse was seldom 'un- der 120. She died on the 2pth of February. The appearances on dissection, in this patient and Tandy, were so remarkably similar, that they verified in almost every respect the opinion I had formed ; and by detailing what was observed in one, I am saved the necessity of reporting mi- nutelv what was seen in the other. In Aldridjro, the peritonaeum was denser and thicker, than it was in Tandy. The liver was enlarged, and had the same appearance, jN^o wonn was found in its suljstancc, but several were discovered on open- ing the ileum, Both the pleura and the lungs were in the same state as in the former case.
