About this work

Description

The film explores a fictional relationship between a biohacker and their subject, inspired by the artist's own thoughts and feelings about the physical process of sequencing a sample of genetic material. ‘Heather’ orders a sample of genetic material from the internet, sequences it, and then uses genealogy databases to identify a close relative of the donor – possibly the donor themself. It explores the emotions involved in genetic sequencing and the relationship between research scientist and subject.
