    to get thofe Defeats fupplied and rectified, to my Sa¬ tisfaction *, as far as this Publication extends. It mult be confefied, that the Receipts for pre¬ paring the two Original Medicines, viz. the Pill and Drop, are as yet no where difcovered in the Book : But Mr. Ward has owned to me, that the principal Ingredient in them is Antimony, prepared in a particular manner : Every Circumftance at¬ tending their Operation, I am told, confirms it; and Mr. White * , (perfuaded that Glafs of Anti¬ mony\ prepared by him, for Mr. Ward, was the Ef- fential Ingredient made ufe of in thefe Medicines) allures me, that he has long made and adminilter- ed them in his Family, &c. and upon a Compan¬ ion as well of their Operation, as Analization, he found them, at that time, to anfwer exadly to thofe made by Mr. Ward. For thefe Reafons, and Others which I forbear to mention, I have no Doubt that the above Re¬ ceipts point out the Genuine and belt Manner of preparing the Pill and Drop. ^The true and genuine Method of preparing the White Drop. pOUND and bruife fourteen Pounds of the Cleaned Copperas into a Rough Powder ; then dry it, with a very gentle Heat, fpreading it thin, till it becomes a dry and fubtle Powder, to appear¬ ance like Quick Lime, only much Whiter. [Care mult be taken, at the Beginning of the drying, that the Heat be very moderate ; otherwife it will melt, and fhut up the Pores of the Copperas, and greatly injure your future Operation.] When * Mr. WhiteM the Ingenious Chymift, who carried on the Great Vitriol Works, at Twickenham, for Mr. Ward; and was employed by him in other Chymical Preparations.
