There is no discredit attached to them for their composition with the French, for they yielded to the plague, on honourable conditions, having suffered it for five or six months, and, by composition between Earl Warwick and the Constable of France, carry- ing off all their arms, stores, and private property. People who have had plague in their houses, &c., are not to resort to Hertford during the term, unless commanded, when they are to hold in their hand a white rod one yard long.
