The portrait in this copy is not the one by Marshall usually found, and the dedication to Charles I is differently set up, [1 recto ending “ securitatis auctori.” “This is one of the presentation copies from the translator, Gilbert Wats, with his arms on the binding. It was given, as the inscription on the title page shows, to Robert Grebbie, a well known Oxford man at that time.”’—WJNote by Duff on fly-leaf. 59 Bacon (F.)
