Cologne, H. Quentell, 1479 printer Quentell of Cologne. The first leaf A1 which is blank has been pasted down by the ignorant binder to form an end-paper. It is very interesting as it contains the mark of a portion of the printing press ”—Note by Duff on fly_leaf. From the library of the Carthusian Monastery at Buxheim, with stamp on A 2. ; Parker (George) Ephemeris for the Yeer 1709, portratt, the blank leaves (41) at the beginnning and end nearly filled with accounts, memoranda, etc. a few entries in shorthand, panelled blue morocco gilt, cottage pattern, chased silver bosses (two) on each cover securing rings at the fore-edge through which passes a metal style, acting as aclasp, g.e.; sold not subject to return 8vo. 1708 * “This pocket book and almanac belonged to the well-known William Lowndes (1652-1724), the Secretary to the Treasury and M.P.
