BETTY MERCHANT, aged 40, of Char- ter- Houfe-Hinton in the county of Somerfet, was admitted into the Bath hofpital, Feb. 6, 1786, for a pally of her right fide, which came on about fix weeks before. When ad- mitted Ihe was a perfe£t cripple, unable to move or Hand, or help herfelf in almoft any refpect. Her limbs too were afflidled with vehement pain, her health in other refpects not much affected. She was directed to drink the waters daily, to bathe twice a week, and to take four grains of Cayenne pepper daily made into pills.
