    which Miss Alma Murray has been kind enough to place at my disposal for this study of her personality, it is revealed by the tendency frequently exhibited to connect the words to one another. In Miss Murray’s dramatic creations, her vivid intelligence, grasp of character, conscientiousness and thoroughness of treatment are always apparent; these essential qualities being indicated in her handwriting by the legibility of, and the regular spaces between, the letters, and the evenness of their setting. There is evidence of a strong imagination—Ideality being well defined in the harmonious types of most of the letters, but it is well governed; while Firmness, Executiveness, and Force, shown respectively by the blunt final strokes, the black bar across the letter F, and‘the thick horizontal lines, add power of determina- tion, energy, and “ backbone/’ Though somewhat ambitious and desirous for success, Miss Alma Murray lacks in a great degree self-confidence; she is apt to become solicitous and timid. I would give her, too, more Hope (the finals descend mostly); however, she has a very fair degree of Secretiveness (as readers of this study can see for themselves if they glance at the closed vowels, &c.), and without this all-important faculty, few actors ever become famous, as it gives them the power for con- cealing their own personalities, and sinking and cloaking, as it were, their feelings for the time being.
