    PREFACE. These cases and remarks illustrative of the success of Wiitzer’s operation for the Radical Cure of Reducible Inguinal Rupture have been reprinted, in their present form, from the columns of the British Medical Journal^ in which they first appeared. Some additional cases have been added to show the practicability of the proceeding in very young subjects, and also a plate of the instruments used in effecting a cure. In an operation like this, calculated to confer benefits on thousands, there cannot be too wide a diffusion, in the earlier stages of its reputation, of any claims it may possess to the attention of the Profession.
