![SECTION II-DISTRIBUTION. 7. The officers of the Medical Staff -will, subject to the Medical supreme command of the Officer Commanding-in-Chief, °®*^?, be detailed forduty by the Director-General, in Commands ^uty^by and Districts, and wil] be under the control of the Principal Director- Medical Officers thereof, both for discipline and professional ^'^'^^r^'- supervision. 8. They will not be removed from Commands or Removal of Districts without the previous sanction of the Director- officers by General, unless under exceptional circumstances. GeaeraL' 9. They will be employed in general, station, or field -^^^^ ^^ ^^ hospitals, and with troops in barracks or in the field ; and employed, also on all such special duties in camp and quarters as the Director-General may decide. 10. A roster of the medical officers on duty at home Roster at will be kept in the office of the Director-General, and, as a ^^o^e, and general rule, those officers who have been for the longest pri^ncipai^ period at home will be the first to proceed abroad. But in Medical the appointment of Principal Medical Officer the amplest o^^ers. discretion is vested in the Director-General to select for each district and command, the officer who he may con- sider from experience and character likely best to dis- charge any peculiar duties which may attach to the medical administration of the particular station. 11. A roster will also be kept at all foreign stations in Roster at the office of the Principal Medical Officer, showing the g^^^^J^g dates of the arrival of medical officers in the command. 12. The period of foreign service, reckoning from the period of date of embarkation at home, will be three years for foreign stations in the West India, Bermuda, China, Ceylon, and ^^'■^^°^* Mauritius commands, and five years for all others, unless such period be incompatible with the interests of the public service. 13. The conditions of service on the West Coast of West Coast Africa are special, and do not come under these rules. ° *^' 14.
