![NOTE. At the last Meeting of the Committee it was resolved, though not originally intended, to publish this reprint of the Report. It contains the Tables placed in their proper order in juxtaposition with the text, which, in consequence of the expense of producing them, were omitted in the British Medical Journal for May 8, 1869. These Tables contain all the facts arrived at by the Com- mittee, and are of the utmost importance, not only as justifying the con- clusions put forth, but as data which may be serviceable to all those who take an interest in such an inquiry, or who desire to extend them by making similar researches. The term Cholagogue [from x0^ bile, and ayui, to bring or lead out] is used in the sense of a remedy which is supposed to stimulate the action of the liver, and so promote an increased flow of bile from that organ.
