Dom. 1632 Folio, First Epition, original calf, VERY RARE. £5 3s John Davies, who was first educated by William Morgan, the translator of the Bible into Welsh, afterwards went to Ruthin School and Jesus College, Oxford. He became rector of Mallwyd, Merionethshire, in 1604, and assisted Dr. Parry in the preparation of his great Welsh Bible. Continuing his studies in Welsh literature he produced the present dictionary, the first part in Welsh amd Latin and the second in Latin and Welsh. In the preface to the second part he acknowledges his indebted- ness to the manuscript of a Dictionary compiled by Thomas Williams, who died in 1620. 104 DAVILA (H.
