![BAKEWELL’S PATENT PORTABLE APPARATUS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF This Apparatus comprises the following advantages over every other machine hitherto manufactured, viz.: Portabi- lity, Ease and Facility of Management, Saving of Labour, Purity and Perfection of the Article combined with its great economy—one Gallon of Soda-water being produced at a cost considerably under 6d. May be seen in daily operation at the Manufacturers’, George Knight and Sons, Foster Lane, Cheapsidf., where Prospectuses may be obtained, which will also be for- warded by post on receipt of a Id. postage stamp. Price of One Gallon size, complete . £6 6 0 Two Gallon „ . 9 9 0 Apparatus for bottling into the ordinary Soda-water Bottles . . . . 6 6 0 [From The Chemist for May, 1843.] The advantages of this portable machine are so evident as scarcely to require enumeration. By its means, every man may make his own soda water at a cost not amounting to six- pence the gallon; no art is necessary for its management; so little labour is requisite in working it, that sufficient motion may be imparted to it with one finger. As its internal coat- ing consists of earthenware, there is no fear of the aerated water being impregnated with any metal.” This apparatus is also applicable to the purpose of making lemonade and fluid magnesia; and as many medicines are now being associated with carbonic acid, druggists will find it very useful in a pharmaceutical point of view. To private families, the medical profession, pharmaceutical chemists, and retailers of soda water and other aerated bever- ages, this machine is invaluable, and we prophesy that, in a short time, few respectable houses will be without one. We tasted some lemonade and some soda water prepared in Bakewell’s Apparatus, and we assure our readers that it is fully equal to any other which we ever met with. It will be quite a boon to those who reside at a distance from large towns, and to those who reside in hot countries. No one who can afford it, will do without such a luxury.](https://iiif.wellcomecollection.org/image/b22020354_0114.jp2/full/800%2C/0/default.jpg)
