    OLD BUILDINGS. HOLYWELL. This building has now been placed under the charge of a caretaker, and will be kept in repair to use in the event of an outbreak of small-pox, it not being desirable to isolate this disease on the same site or within the same walls as other illness. DENTON'S HOSPITAL. The shrubs, trees, etc., have been removed from this site, half being sent to the Watford-fields recreation ground, and the remainder to the new Hospital. The buildings themselves will shortly be taken down and re-erected within the new hospital grounds, with a view to their use as an overflow ward should the present accommodation at any time be insufficient. NEW HOSPITAL BUILDINGS. ADMINISTRATIVE BLOCK. Very great economy has been exercised in the furnishing of this. Seeing that it is the home of your staff economy should be tempered with liberality. I trust that in the coming year you may see your way to provide a few more comfortable chairs and also some means of recreation for the nurses when off duty. WARDS. Nr provision in building these was made for the storage of coal. This is a matter which requires your attention, as the present arrangements are not satisfactory. WAITING ROOM FOR PATIENTS' FRIENDS. No such room, which is badly required, has been provided. It should be built just within the gates, adjoining the porter’s lodge. LAUNDRY. The complete furnishing of this was, at my suggestion,, deferred until the practical working of the hospital would demonstrate what was required. I find that it will be necessary to provide some power to work the wash-house machinery. SEWERAGE. In certain portions of their course the present drains are not satisfactory and require attention. The sewerage, which is received into a tank at the bottom of the grounds, is from these pumped on to the sewage farm. Gas is the agent employed.
