![[ >9 ] fcentre, is to be found alone by the gift of God; or, in other words, by his blefling on the reverential and alliduous labours and inveftiga- tions of thofe who learch unweariedly into the vaft treafures of na- ture, with a view of promoting the good and happinefs of the world, and the honour and glory of God! --Whenever therefore,, we can extract and concentrate from the adventitious, grofs, or maritive parts—-the balmy, fimple, homogeneous and vivifying particles of' •fubftances truly medicinal;, bv means of the harmonious.combination of the great univerfal principles of air, aether, magnetifm,.electricity, and folar light, we need look for no other medicines ; and I defy any phyfician to mention an indication in the'ciire of any difeafe, whether ^ opening, purifying, fvveating, purging, vo‘- by alferinrgj attenuating, miting, palling offby the kidnies; or by taking off fpafms arid irri- tations by bracing and comforting the nerves,--or by ftrength- ening and Vivifying the whole fyftem, but may be anfvvered in. the completed: and moll friendly manner, by the judicious modulation’s and exhibitions of thefe three great medicines. They will therefore, upon principles perfectly demonftrable,.:'cure all cii.rable difeafes, gladden the heart, illuminate the mind, and prolong human feSP- ence to the longeil: poffible period. Becaufe this exaff mixture of hot and cold, moift and dry,-—this harmonious tempering 6f the primary vital elements, coalefcing like chords in mufic, mu.ft be peace-makers in the fifite or cfifbrders of the conllituent parts and qualities of man’s body;—and becaufe the true quintefience of na- ture is Fire. I don’t mean’the grofs, impure, cqnfihning* culinary fire w hich we have every day before us in the world: by no means. The fire which I employ in the cure' of difeafes,, and in the preparation of thofe three great medicinesi, is the true elementary fire, which has e*ln wordiipped as ft wire by the philofophrers of ajl ages. They had ghmpfes of it; and even its dawn gleaming on their horizon filled them with ideas fo vafiratid foblime ! that the herd of the world called them mad enthufiafis. How much greater felicity mull %vc enjoy, upon whom the fun of feience fldnes fo bright as at this day. How much more may we benefit and enlighten theihuman fpeqies!
