![APPENDIX [A] REPORT OP THE RESIDENT MEDICAL SUPERINTENDENT. V To the Committee of Visitors of the Three Counties Asylum. Gentlemen, I bave the honor to lay before you the second Annual Eeport of this Asylum. During the year 1861, there have been 129 patients admit¬ ted—59 males, and 70 females ; the number in the Asylum, on the 31st of December, 1860, was 423,—186 males, and 237 fe¬ males; the total number under treatment has therefore been 552,-245 males, 307 females. The number discharged has been 45,—10 males, 35 females. The deaths have been 24 males, 23 females ; the principal causes being paralysis, epilepsy, and pulmonary consumption. A very large per centage of those admitted during the year, were brought to the Asylum in such a feeble and diseased state, as to leave no hope of prolonging their existence.
