![No cases of cholera occurred during 1920. There were 3 cases of plague, 2 of which occurred in the Port of London, and one in the County Borough of Liverpool. As already stated, case-rates are given for each sanitary area in England and Wales. Many of these districts have very small populations, and in many instances the rate is calculated on one or only a few cases of disease. Although for convenience of reference such rates have been given, it is evident that in judging of their significance reference should always be made to the population and to the number of cases of sickness on which each rate is based. Sickness Statistics for 1920.—During 1920, the total number of cases of the chief notifiable diseases in England and Wales, excluding cases among sailors and soldiers, was as follows :— | England and Wales, 1920.
