![Marefield. A achome for the provision of a mains supply for this parish is in course of preparation. Wate ^ Shortai^e. No serious shortages were reported during the year. Number of canes in which piped supply was substituted for well water ... 73 Drainage and Sewerage. The number of known cesspools at the end of 1950 was 519 and during the year some 4-000 emptyings were carried out. Regular inspections of sewers and sewer dykes were made and where any sewers were found to be fractured or choked immediate repair: were carried out. Regular attention has been given to outfall ditches in order to keep them as clear as possible. Great G-len and Burton Overy. The main drainage scheme for these parishes io in operation and only a few property connections have to be made in order to complete the scheme. Good progress is being made with the re-drainage of properties where it has been found that the existing drainage system is defective. The Council has adopted the scheme whereby financial assistance is given to ovi^ners undertaking the conversion of privy pails to water closets. This is a valuable incentive as is evidenced by the fact that though the scheme has only been in operation about two months some 55 elcsets have been converl'ed to water closets. Houghton, Stoughton and Billesdon. These schemes have been approved and authority to proceed is awaited. Skeffington. An Informal Inquiry has been held into this scheme and the observations of the Ministry of Health are awaited. Tilton and Keyham.
