WHISTLER ”—THE “VENETIAN SET,” Impression taken by Whistler after cancelling the copper plates. Most of these are only very slightly marked and all are fine impressions. Twenty-one are signed in pencil by the artist on the margin, with his “ Butterfly ” signature. Also, there are included an original “‘ Prospectus ” of ** A Set of Twenty- six Etchings ” published by Messrs. Dowdeswell, 1886, and the Sheet of “‘ Proposi- tions,” i.e. “ A Short resumé of the principles held by him.” The whole enclosed in cloth case. ‘Twenty-eight items in all. 1886. #200 From the Dowdeswell Collection.
