    WHISsTLER (J. A. McNeill)—continued. A Cuorce AND UNIQUE WHISTLER ITEM. [1520] “ ASET OF TWENTY-SIX ETCHINGS BY MR. WHISTLER ”—THE “VENETIAN SET,” Impression taken by Whistler after cancelling the copper plates. Most of these are only very slightly marked and all are fine impressions. Twenty-one are signed in pencil by the artist on the margin, with his “ Butterfly ” signature. Also, there are included an original “‘ Prospectus ” of ** A Set of Twenty- six Etchings ” published by Messrs. Dowdeswell, 1886, and the Sheet of “‘ Proposi- tions,” i.e. “ A Short resumé of the principles held by him.” The whole enclosed in cloth case. ‘Twenty-eight items in all. 1886. #200 From the Dowdeswell Collection.
