    Specification. Massey’s Improvements in Artificial Teeth and Gums. These improved artificial gums may be manufactured either independently or with the teeth attached thereto, as now commonly practised in making mineral teeth and gums. When the teeth and gums are formed separately it is proposed to form recesses in the artificial mineral gums to receive the base of the mineral teeth, which can be held in their position by a wire passing 5 vertically through the artificial teeth and gums, and riviting or fixing them to the metal mouth-plate thereby, or any other convenient mode. The advantage of this arrangement is that the length, &c. of the teeth can be more readily altered to suit the mouth. SPECIFICATION in pursuance of the conditions of the Letters Patent, filed 10 by the said William Massey in the Great Seal Patent Office on the 24th July 1854. TO ALL TO WHOM THESE PRESENTS SHALL COME, I, William Massey, of Hemer Terrace, Bootle-cum-Linacre, near Liverpool, in the County of Lancaster, Manufacturer of Mineral Teeth, send greeting. 15 WHEEEAS Her most Excellent Majesty Queen Victoria, by Her Letters Patent, bearing date the Twenty-fourth day of January, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, in the seventeenth year of Her reign, did, for Herself, Her heirs and successors, give and grant unto me, the said William Massey, Her special licence that I, the said William Massey, my 20 executors, administrators, and assigns, or such others as I, the said William Massey, my executors, administrators, and assigns, should at any time aoree with, and no others, from time to time and at all times thereafter durino-'’the term therein expressed, should and lawfully might make, use, exercise” and vend, within the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, the Channel 25 Islands, and Isle of Man, an Invention for “ Impkovemexts in Aetificial Teeth AND Gums, ’ upon the condition (amongst others) that I, the said William Massey, by an instrument in writing under my hand and seal, should par¬ ticularly describe and ascertain the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same was to be performed, and cause the same to be filed in the 30 Great Seal Patent Office within six calendar months next and immediately after the date of the said Letters Patent. NOW KNOW YE, that I, the said William Ma.ssey, do hereby declare the nature of the said Invention, and in what manner the same is to be performed to be particularly described and ascertained in and by the following statement 35 thereof (that is to say):—
