![COUNTY BOROUGH OF SOUTHAMPTON. ANNUAL REPORT OF MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH. To THE Mayor, Aldermen, and Councillors. Mr. Mayor and Gentlemen, I have the honour to submit for your information, in accordance with the order of the Local Government Board, my Annual Report upon the condition of the public health, and a record of the administrative work carried out by the Health Department for the year 1912, together with the vital statistics of the Borough. A summary of the work done and action taken under the Factory and Workshop Act, 1907, the Midwives’ Act, 1902, and the Housing, Town Planning, etc.. Act, 1909, is also included in the Report. Particulars of the action taken respecting Infectious Disease, especially in regard to Pulmonary Tuberculosis, are given in detail in the Report. The health of the Borough during the year was of a very satisfactory character, the Death Rate being 2.06 lower than in 1911, and the deaths of infants under one 3^ear of age amounted to 84 per 1,000 births registered, compared with 135 in the preceding twelve months.
