David Jones, a Soldier in the firft: Regi¬ ment of Guards, had been troubled fome time with anaiarcous Swellings attended with great difficulty in Breathing. He had made but little Water for fome time part, and at laft became fo bloated and fwelled, that being incapable of doing his Duty he was put into the Regimental Hofpital in Petty France. After other means had proved inef¬ fectual for three Weeks, the Garden Night- fhade was given. He took feven Dofes of it. The firft, a Grain of the Leaf infufed, occa- fioned an agreeable Heat all over the Body, which was fucceeded by a profufe Sweat, a great aifcharge of Urine, and watry Stools. His Breath was a little relieved the next Day. At Night he repeated the Dofe, flept well, fweated confiderably and difcharged a great quantity of Water.
