Dose, %i.—§ss., diluted suffi- ciently. spiritus tenuior, l. e. d. Weaker, or Proof Spirit. Con- tains 1 equ. of alcohol to 3 of water. Spirit of French Wine, or Brandy. Use.—(Intl.) in depressed conditions of fever; faintness from accidents, or other causes. Dose, 5ii>—si. (Extl.) a valuable contribution to some lotions, <fec. mistura spiritus vini gallici, l. Brandy Mixture. Prep.—Mix together spirit of French wine, (brandy) and cin- namon water, each 3*iv., the yolk of 2 eggs, purified sugar 3*ss., and oil of cinnamon m. ii. Use.—(Intl.) stimulating restorative in sunk stages of typhus, and for numerous purposes. Dose, 5ii-—§iss. Allium, u. s. l. e. allium sativum, d. Garlick. (v. Epispastics.) Use.—(Intl.) in fevers of typhoid character ; asthmatic com- plaints, chronic catarrh, <fec. Dose, from 1 to 6 of the cloves (swallowed whole) 2 or 3 times a-day ; or of their expressed juice 3ss.—5ii- (Extl.) v. under Epispastics. Allium Ccpa, d. The bulb of the Onion. Use.—(Extl.) as a stimulating maturating poultice to some tu- mours. liquor Ammonite Fortior, u. s. ammonite liquor fortior, l. aqua ammonite fortior, e. Use.—(Intl.) never in the concentrated state, but when suffi- ciently reduced with milk, water, veal-broth, (fee, in some spas- modic affections, hysteria, asphyxia, <fcc. Dose, m. i.—m. xv.
