HE Cardialgia, bn eat burn, has its origin from an. acid acrimony in the ftomach, irritating its- fibres, and. exciting pain: Hence the caufes and cure are entirely fimilar to thofe of the acid acrimony treated of in Pages.25, 26, .27. There are other {pecies of pain, whofe feat appears to be in the ftomach, which depend upon other and very different caufes ; and. thefe for the moft part are either of the fpafmo- dic, rheumatic, gouty, or periodical kinds, . A fpafmodic affection is to be remedied by the antifpafmodic medicines, amongit which opium claims the firft place. — The warm, cordial, and aromatic remedies are likewile extremely advifeable.
