![4 Town Hall, Bethnal Green, E.2. April, 1925. To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the Metropolitan Borough of Bethnal Green. Ladies and Gentlemen, I have the honour to present to you ray fifth Annual Report, which deals with the health of the Borough of Bethnal Green during the year 1924. The health of the Borough continued good as judged by past standards, the death-rate being 12.4 per thousand of population. The infantile mortality rate was 78.0 per thousand births, this also being a striking improvement on the figures of past years. A considerable portion of this report is taken up with the subject of our Maternity and Child Welfare scheme, in view of the progress being made in its development. As in past reports. ] have to express my thanks to the members of the Council, and more particularly to members of the Public Health Committee, for the support and consideration they- have accorded myself and my staff during the past year. 1 must also tender my thanks to the officers and employees of the Public Health Department for the support I have received from them, and to other officers of the Council's stall for the help and Courtesies received.
