    give a ready anfwer to various afiertions which will occur in the works now under confideration, and which, tho’ they have the word: of tendencies, have in reality themfelves no better fupport (and not always fo good a one) than fame very weak and {lender hvpothefes and are at other times built on the re¬ vival of old chimerical principles, which have been confuted and exploded long ago.
