All the English Memorials (except that dated the 23d of January, 1753), were drawn up by the Earl of Halifax, Lord Viscount Dupplin, John Pitt, the Hon. James Greenville, Francis Fane, the Hon. Charles Townshend, Andrew Stone, and James Oswald, the Lords for Trade and Plantations. The engraved maps are inscribed as follows : I., ““ A New Map of Part of North America, from the Latitude of 40 to 68 degrees, including the late Discoveries made on Board the Furnace Bomb Ketch, in 1742, and the Western Rivers and Lakes falling into Nelson River in Hudson’s Bay, as described by Joseph La France, a French Canadese Indian ... IL, “‘ Carte D’Une Partie de L’Amérique Septentrionale pour servir a l’In- tellegence du Mémoire sur les prétentions des Anglois au sujet des Limites a regler avec la France dans cette Partie du Monde.” III., ‘““A Map Exhibiting a View of the English Rights, relative to the Ancient Limits of Acadia as supported by Express and Incontestable Authorities, in opposition to that of ye French,”’ dated 1755. Since its first settlement, Nova Scotia has more than once changed proprietors. In the 12th Article of the Treaty of Peace concluded at Utrecht, the 11th of April, 1713, Nova Scotia, with its ancient boundaries, was confirmed to England. It was taken by the French in 1745 and 1758 ; but was again confirmed to England in 1763.
