    m [ 108' ] Mv/es as many different laws to govern the aitions of His reafonable creatures, as there are different parts of the globe inhabited by them, fo as that there is one law for the inhabitants of Αβα and Africdy and another for thofe of Em'ope, this fort of arguments, drawn from the outward appearances of things in different parts of the־ world, proves nothing on either fide of the queftion, but the ex- ceeding ignorance of mankind as touch- ing the aits and difpenfaticns of that INFINITELY WISE Being, whofe ?nents are unfiarchahky and His ways pafl finding out! Rom. xi. 33. The beil and fairefc, and indeed the only way to get at the truth, on this as on every other occaiion where religion is concerned, is to lay aiide prejudicey from whatever quarter it may be derived, and to let the Bible fpeak for itfelf. Then we iliall fee that polygamyy notwithftand- ing the feventh commandment, was al- lowed by God Himfelfy who, however others might miftake it, muff infallibly know His own mindy be perfeitly ac- quainted with His own willy and tho- roughly underftand His own law. If He did not intend to allow polygamyy but to prevent or condemn it, either by the feventh commandment, or by fome other lav/.
