![t !54 ] words fimply are ורדו לבשר אחד—Et erunt m camem imam» Kit; hovTcu 01 ^vo εις σάρκχ μίχν» Matt. xix. 5. ney twain Jhall be one flep^* The words εσοντχι 01 ^υο—thev two β)αΙΙ bey &c,—relate to the man and his wifcy mentioned in the fame verfe, and anfwer to the והיו Gen. ii. 24. which fignifies they βοαΙΙ be—meaning the איש and אשתו the man and his Gen. ii. 24. So that though here be a fmall vari- ation between they βοαΙΙ bcy and they twain βοαΙΙ bey yet it is merely verbal in point of quotation j the fenfe is juft the fame, whe« ther, fpeaking of a man and woman, we fay—they, or—they twain : but adding the word onlyy or they two and no morey is a very material alteration, fo material, as to alter the whole fenfe of the paffage, and to make every polygamifi that ever lived, an offender againft the original νιβί^ tiition of marriage. Rather than fail in this, even the learned Eeza himfelf will conde- fcend to talk nonfenfe.
