    Lor 356~—-continued. apparently Green and Buck. ‘The edition of 1628, described in Bowes’ Catalogue of Cambridge Books and in the Catalogue of Karly English Books in the Cambridge University Library, differs entirely from the present. ‘This edition has the music to the Psalms printed, the first music printing at Cambridge being found in a Psalter of 1623. The binding, which is probably contem- porary Edinburgh work, is of black morocco, very richly gilt. On each side is a plain diamond-shaped panel, but the interior and exterior are entirely covered with elaborate tooling. It was secretly printed, probably at Edinburgh. Queen Mary had returned from France to Scotland in August, 1561, and the present volume was issued a month or two at the most after her arrival in Edinburgh. It was a direct attack on all that was. most sacred to her, and one of the most effective of the attacks by Knox which undermined her rule. In 1562 a reprint of the present volume was issued at Edinburgh by Lekprevik, and, two years later, in 1564, the same printer issued the first complete edition of “The Book of Common Order” with the title ““The Forme of Prayers and Ministration of the Sacraments, etc., used in the English Church at Geneva, approved and received by the Church of Scot- land.” It contained the Liturgy, the Catechism and the Psalms. This volume is in the British Museum, but we are unable to trace the whereabouts of another copy. 358 Luruer (MArtIN) Das Newe Testament, Verteutschet Durch Doct. Mart. It is not in Darlow and Moule’s Historical Catalogue of Printed Bibles, and no copy is in either the Bodleian or the British Museum. It is not in Adler’s Catalogue of the Lorek Collection, which now forms part of the Duke of Wurtem- berg’s great Bible collection at Wolfenbuttel. This copy, printed on vellum, is doubtless unique, as no copy is recorded in Van Praet’s Catalogue of Books printed on vellum or any other bib- liography.
