    Tefticle from being felt, by which Circum- ftance this Kind of internal Hydrocele is dif- tinguiflied from the others. 146. When ing raifed up from the Inteftines, one Incifion was made down to the Pubis, and another up to the Cartilago Enli- V formis. The Operator finding the Integuments every where free from the Inteftines on the left Side, made a crofs Incifion from the Navel down towards the Quadra- tus Mufcle of the Loins. Having now a full View of the Cavity of the Abdomen, the Inteftines appeared to be of the common Size, and not at all diilended with Air more than common. On the left Side they had here and there a little Rednefs on their Surface, but otherwife Teemed to be in a natural Condition ; in the right Side they were more inflamed, and adhered to the Peritoneum almofl every where between the Ribs and Spine of the Ileum. We then turned over the Inteflines very carefully, and examined whether we could find any Plole in them,' or Fceces in the Cavity of the Abdomen ; but we could dif- cover neither. In the Pelvis there was about three Pints of a clear green-coloured fetid Water. A fmall Quantity of well-concodled, but fetid Pus lay below the Sac of the Colon, and on the Mefentery, below fome of the Folds of the Ileum near it ;—the Bladder was much inflamed ; —the L^terus Teemed to be quite found, and was near twice
