A great many of the most respectable habits of life lead to much ill-health, inefficiency, and unhappi- ness ! <TOO LITTLE FAIR EVALUATION AND JUDGMENT) There is hardly any fair, reasonable, and poised Valuation in the world. It is a rare art, yet vitally important. People accept or reject this or that course of action, guided entirely by the orthodox ordinary opinion. It is good mental exercise to take anything that we do, or that we might do, and sum it up; and ask ourselves how far the practice is for the good of ourselves and others: does it tend to Health ? Does it tend to Happiness? Does it tend to Helpfulness? Is it Wise? Isit Pure? And so forth. We grant that it is a complex subject ; but it is well worth while to look at anything and everything, including “ Religion,” in this new way: to size it up, and to find out in what ways it is valuable, in what ways unsatisfactory. < TOO LITTLE PERSPECTIVE > Perspective is needed everywhere.
