    [ 7* ] _ follow any : He may likewife confider, that the Clergy have often more than one Bene¬ fice, fometimes a Bilhoprick, Deanry, Arch- Deaconry, Prebendary, or other Ecclefiaftical Preferment, with their Benefice, and are not debarred from any thing confiftent with their Cures: They have the Liberty of being Cu¬ rates, Lecturers, of getting Money by Learned Writings, may be Matters or Fellows of Col¬ leges, Profelfors, Tutors, Schoolmafters, Chap¬ lains of Regiments, Sea Chaplains, Chaplains to Factories, Embattles, &c. and many other beneficial Preferments, and even Places under the Government, befides their Benefices, and if with fuch valuable Incomes as many of them enjoy, they have not the Faculty of faving Eftates, I hope this Author does not expert Laymen fhould be anfwerable for it: Nor do I think it would, in general, be any Service to the Clergy, if they might turn Farmers, Merchants, &c. which is fo much out of their way, and the Nature of which they are fo much unacquainted with.
