In compliance with the various sections of the I’uhlic Health Act, 1870, oG legal notices and 192 preliminary notices were served for the alaitemcnt ot the nuisance.s, of which 239 have been satisfactorily complied with. The re- maining nuisance.s, still unahatcal, arc carried forward to he. dealt with. In order to (.‘iiahlc the memhers (»f tin' Council to .sec at a glance the various description of nuisances which have been detected and dealt with during the above [)eriod, 1 have again introduced a summary showing the number of nuisances, number of notices, and the nundter which have been comi)lied with. The area of the Urban District of Canmtek is estimateil at 8009 ae.res, and the population at the end of the year 189G 22,306.
