I he .specilica- tion was iirepared in dr'tail for repairing, cleansing, and naintim' the woodwork, ironwork, and the interior walls, the .mtside of lumse and outhnildings, and lixing new gates. During the year ]ieriodical visits were made to the Hospital, and the house and furniture were found in a satis- factory condition. 1 am pleased to rep'irt that no cases of Smallpox have been received into the Ilospital during the year. (iciipnii During my inspections throughout the District, i have *n«vUin's’'^ directed my attention to the gimeral coiulition of the inside of dwellings, hut niore especially in the populous parts of the District, ami the various nuisances whicli have heeiuletecteil have arisen from dela])idated sinks, scullery walls, and jiaveiuents. 1 had correspondence with the pioperty owners, informing lliem of the structural defects found on the .pri'iiiises, which were acknowledged by them, and the com- jilaints remedied. In several instances 1 have, called tlu> attention of the tenants to the uncleanly condition of the internal walls, and •given instructions for the, whitewashing and cleansiin' of same.
