Coroners’ inquests.—Coroners’ in([uests were lield regarding 110 deaths—that is, in o.o per cent, of the total deaths during the year. The Coroners’ (Amendment) Act, 1926.—This Act came into force on 1st iMay, 1027. During the year HO deaths (4.1 ])er cent, of the total deaths during the year) were registered without the Coroner holding an inquest. Infantile mortality.—Tliere were lOH deaths of infants under 1 year old. This corres^jonds to an infantile mortality rate'of HO per 1,000 births. There were 11 deaths in illegitimate infants under 1 year old; giving an illegitimate mortality rate of 1()7 ]jer 1,000.
