![[ 41 ] pain may reafonably be accounted for, not merely from a want of fenfibility in the Tu¬ nics of the Teftis, and the Scrotum ; but from the gradual diftenfion which they have under¬ gone, as well as from the gradual preffure which the Tunica Albuginea has fuftained, and their being quite free from inflammation at the fame time ; but when it happens that this difeafe is fuddenly brought on, and that an in¬ flammation and irritation have preceded, and attended the comolaint, the circumftances are greatly altered; and with this alteration of circumftances, there muft be an alteration of fymptoms; fo that fpeedy aftiftance will be found neceffary from general, as well as from topical remedies: as was the cafe in the inftance of the young gentleman already defcribed ; to whofe hiftory we muft refer for a confirmation of the reafonablenefs of fuch pradice; as well as the favourable refult of it.
