    I have souglit in vain, I must confess, in general surgical works and also in those specially devoted to operative surgery, to find an account of any operation for the removal of the entire tongue so simple in all its details as that designed by Mr. Walter Whitehead. I now seek to bring it before the notice of operating surgeons, in the hope that the results which have attended its performance may induce others to avail themselves of its advantages. CHAS.
