![GENERAL ANNUAL MEETING AT DU RHAM The General Annual Meeting of the Subscribers to the Royal Albert Asylum, Was held in the Town Hall, Durham, on Wednesday, September 29th, 1869, THE YENEEABLE ARCHDEACON BLAND, CHAIRMAN OF THE DURHAM LOCAL COMMITTEE, PRESIDING. The Chairman, having opened the proceedings with prayer, addressed the Meeting, after which the Secretary, Mr. James Diggens, read the Report of the Central Committee, including the Balance Sheet and the Report of the Auditors. The following Resolutions were unanimously passed :— 1.—That this Meeting approves and adopts the Report now presented ; and rejoices at the liberal support which the Royal Albert Asylum has obtained from all sections of the community, and trusts that the earnest efforts of the Central Committee to make provision for the necessities of a most afflicted class will continue to receive from the County of Durham the most cordial appreciation and encouragement. Moved by the Very Rev. the Dean of Durham ; seconded by Dr. E. Denis de Vitre, Chairman of the Central Committee. 2.—That, in compliance with Rule 25, the following Gentlemen (who are Subscribers resident in the neighbourhood of Lancaster) be appointed Members of the Central Committee:— Dr. E. Denis de Yitre. Rev. David Davis. Edward Dawson, Esq. William J. Garnett, Esq. James Grant, Esq. B. P. Gregson, Esq. James S. Harrison, Esq. Thomas Howitt, Esq. Henry Hadwen, Esq. William Roper, Esq. Rev. C. Twemlow Royds. William Satterthwaite, Esq. John Sharp, Esq. J. P. C. Starkie, Esq., M.P. Captain Thornhill. Moved by the Yen. Archdeacon Prest; seconded by the Rev. Professor Chevallier. 3.—That this Meeting expresses its obligations to those Gentlemen who have hitherto formed the Durham Local Committee, and appoints the following Gentlemen (with power to add to their number) to act in the same capacity for the promotion of the objects of the Asylum:—[For names see List of Local Committees.] Moved by F. D. Johnson, Esq.; seconded by the Rev. H. J. Richmond. 4.—That the cordial thanks of the Subscribers be given to the Honorary Auditors for the past year (Messrs. Rees, White, and Co., Public Accountants, Manchester, J. S. Burrell, Esq., and William Satterthwaite, Esq., Lancaster), for their efficient investigation of the Accounts of the Asylum ; and this Meeting, in accordance with Rule 34, hereby appoints Messrs. Rees, White, and Co., and William Satterthwaite, Esq., together with E. B. Dawson, Esq., of Lancaster, to act as Honorary Auditors for the ensuing year. Moved by the Rev. J. Barrnby, Principal of Bishop Hatfield’s Hall; seconded by the Rev. D. Davis, of Lancaster. 3-—That, circumstances permitting, the next General Annual Meeting of the friends and supporters of this Institution be held at Bradford, on Wednesday, September 28th, 1870, and that notice thereof be given in the Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield, York, Lancaster, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Durham newspapers. Moved by the Mayor of Durham ; seconded by Dr. Stoker. 6- That this Meeting gratefully acknowledges the warm interest in the Royal Albert Asylum evinced by the Venerable Archdeacon Bland, and recognises the courtesy and ability with which he has presided to-day.
