About this work

Description

Development of the longitudinal flight muscles (green) of a Drosophila. This process takes place during metamorphosis when the larval muscle templates fuse with muscle precursor cells (blue) from the imaginal discs to form the adult muscles. The motor nerves (red) from the larva are also respecified to innervate the newly remodelled flight muscles.
