![[26] plexion. I have, thank God, relieved him of this dreadful and long flanding Diftemper, by continu¬ ing my Medicines a good while, and he is grown fat, and of a florid Colour. If he eat or drank too much, or his Stomach was very foul, it would bring on a very flight Fit, perhaps two or three in one Year, but he had them before very often, very long, and fevere, and twice after hard Drinking, he vomited a good Deal of Blood, and had two flight Fits. The bitter Remanentz of my Spirit of Tartar did do him a great Deal of Service, as he had a weak Stomach, &c. Chronical Diftempers cannot be cured in a Hur¬ ry, or in a little Time, and without a proper Diet and Regimen. My volatile Salt of Tartar is a powerful nervous and antifcorbutic Medicine, very ftrengthening and penetrating-, which every fkilful Chymift will ac¬ knowledge. I always diflfolve it in diftilled Rain- W ater. A Gentlewoman nearly related to me, of about 45 or 46 Years old, was luddenly feized with Me¬ lancholy, and confulting a great Phyflcian and a worthy Friend of mine, he honeftly and ingenioufly advifed me after bleeding, vomiting, £sfc. to ufe my own Preparations of the Tartar, and according to his Directions, with the Afiiftance of the Almighty, in a fhort Time fhe was relieved and cured of this dreadful and truly melancholy Cafe. A young Man from Wales, about 20 Years old, going to live at Cambridge, had a Gutta ferena, and was lb intirely blind for about Six Months, that he could not fee the Sun at Noon-day, nor a Candle before his Eyes, &Y He came to Town, and lodged with a Relation in Great-Rujfel-ftreet. He had taken a great many Medicines from other People, but jn vain, and rather grew worfe.
