![[ 3 8 ] Oftentimes the Gout comes from a too great Quantity of Blood, from fharp Humours, from catching Cold, from a Supprdfion of Urine, or from feme other Evacuation too great, or too lit¬ tle, from a vifeid and glutinous Blood, and Serum, or Humours, from the Scurvy, from a too great and long Exercife of the Body, for want of fcxer- cife, or through too much Eating and Drinking, or through too much Reft and Sleeping, Acids, catch- ingpCold; through Paflion, and often by Inherit¬ ance, fometimes through too much Venery, and often through the Fox, GA. In the Gout, Opium and Narcotiks, ftrong and rough Purges, and Bleeding in the Arm are very dangerous. Cooling and repelling outward Ap¬ plications, Milk, Cider, Malt Liquor, red Wine, Meat Suppers, and windy and vifeid Viduals and Acids, Pork and falted Meat muft be avoided. The flying Gout very often feizes all Parts of the Eu man Body inwardly and outwardly, from the Crown of the Head to the Soles of the Feet, and an Attack upon the inward and nobler Parts is often fatal. If it feizes the Head, it occafions Quinfeys, Head-Achs, Pains in the Jaws, Stupidity, Madrrefs, Apoplexy, GA. In the Lungs, it occafions Cough, Afth ma, purulent and chalky Gatherings, Pleurifies, Confumption, GY. II it affeds the Stomach, then It occafions Vomiting, Sicknefs, Hikup, Wind, Loofenefs, Bloody-Flux, and Urine, Inflamma¬ tion of the Bowels, GY. and if it feizes the Liver, then follow Cholicks, bilious Evacuations, Obftruc- tion of the Gall, Yellow Jaundice, Dropfy, GY; In the Kidnies, Gravel, Stone, Obftrudion of the Urine; In the Hips, Ifhyatic Pains'; In the Fingers, Chiragra, Stifnefs of the Joints, and Lamenefs.
