(5) Ethereal Extracts.—Treat dry drugs with ether, either alone or after making an alcoholic extract, or before making an aqueous or alcoholic extract. The B. P. contains : Ex. Filicis Liquidum, Ex. Mezerei 33the- reum, and Ex. Stramonii. (6) Acetic Extract.—There is only one. Acetic acid is added to the crushed drug, and then a fresh extract is made. Ex. Colchici Aceticum. (7) Liquid Extracts.—These are aqueous extracts evaporated to form concentrated liquid solutions. Some spirit is added to prevent decomposition. Examples: Ex. Belse Liquidum, Ex.
