The extracts of Nux Vomica and Opium, and the liquid extracts of Cinchona and Opium are standardized. Grlycerina.—Solutions of drugs in glycerine. They are all liquid preparations, used for external appli- cation, except Glycerinuui Tragacanthae, which is semi-solid, and is used to make pills. The B. P. contains— Glycerinum Acidi Carbolici Glycerinum Amyli — Acidi Gallici — Boracis — Acidi Tannici — Phunbi Subacetatis — Aluminis — Tragacanthae. Infusa.—Solutions made by pouring boiling dis- tilled water upon the drug to be extracted, then covering up the vessel, agitating from tinie to time, usually for half an hour, sometimes for fifteen minutes, sometimes for one hour, and in one case for two hours, and straining. The filtrate is the infusion. Two are made with Cold Water. Inf. Calumbae, to prevent the solution of the starch the drug contains, and Inf.
