    DEATHS. The Registrar General now supplies to Medical Officers of Health the total numher of Deaths of residents in their districts. Table III which shews the causes of Death and the number of Male and Female persons dying is the Registrar General's Statement. These particulars however do not shew the ages at death, and Table IIIA, which has been compiled from particulars received from the local Registrar, ^ile not absolutely agreeing with the Registrar General's Table, gives a return of Deaths at various ages. The total number of deaths of residents, whether dying in the district or outside of it, is 5^3 - 255 a>ud 253 females. Thirty-two people resident in other districts died in Chiswich during the year, and their deaths are transferred to the district in which they were usually resident. 165 deaths of Chiswick residents occiirred in Institu- tions etc., outside the district, and are included in the total of 508 given above. All the deaths were certified, that is the death certificate had been given by a medical practitioner or by the Coroner after holding an inquest. Inquests. The following is a list of the causes of death in those cases in which it was necessary to hold an inquest:- Deaths of Deaths of Residents Hon-Residents Accidents , 3 ^ Suicide 1 1 Lung Diseases 4 - Heart Diseases 9 1 Other Causes Totals 23 3 Death Rate. The total number of Deaths being 508 the Death Rate is 11,5 per 1,000 of the population, as compared with the Death Rate of 12.4 in the whole of England and Wales and one of 12.4 in London, In 1919 the death rate of Chiswick was llol.
