Book of Common Prayer and Psalms, original black morocco, very elaborately tooled, round the sides runs a ‘+ | broad frame made up by six repetitions of a chain of small : circles, each chain is made up of two rolls of semi-circles, and is stamped at the corners with a fleur-de-lys; inside the frame ‘) C are six triangular and one diamond-shaped designs, built up | : with a variety of tools mostly of spiral shape, the outer lines LA plain, and the inner dotted; the back is also fully gilt with Ayn AM various ornamental tools, two silver clasps with elaborate pierced \ — ~ and engraved catches, g.e.; sold as a binding, not subject to return | Cambridge, T. Buck and R. Daniel, 1638 * A Cambridge binding of very unusual type and design in very fine condition. Its most unusual feature lies in the elaborate _ construction of the concentric frames.
