Millions of vaccinations are made every year while no- body knows what they are made with. The whole cow-pox practice is a haphazard game of chance in which the vaccinated take the chances while the doctor takes the fees “at the time of inserting vaccine virus—a disease pro- duced matter, miscalled “ lymph ”—into the healthy child’s body the physician has no means of knowing what the result will be, whether tetanus, erysipelas, cow-pox or a negative result will follow he is unable to tell until after the result of the experiment has made itself manifest in the child’s system.’’—(Why Doctors ivho vacci- nate should abandon the practice, pp. 4—5 ; re- printed from Mediccd Advance, March, 1902.) “ The word lymph in the expression “ pure calf-lymph” is clearly a misnomer calculated to mislead the incautious Lymph is a physiologic product, while the so-called “pure calf-lymph ” is a pathologic product, obtained from a lesion (pock) on a sick and diseased calf.
