So that Medicines of this Ra$k borrow the Name, Specifick, from their Nature and Vertoe, being only appropriable to fome certain and particular Difeafes. Of this Number is the Genuine Oleofum of the Antienls, or Volatile Salt of Tartar, for that it is only^ which defervedly bears the Name, and is the very thing without de¬ ceit of Names, carrying with it for its true Proof a Mechanick Demonftration, as well as Medicinal Vertue: The Mechanical is not only manifeft in its Preparation, but alfo in its Office and Effed, when prepared. In its Preparation it is the fixed Salt of Tartar, truly Volatized by Ejfential Oyls, and Fmous and VrinoHs Spirits • in filch away, as that the Salt ffiall drink in at lead: three or four, nay, if the Artih: pleafes, fix times its weight of Oy]^ and thirty two times its weight of Spirit of Wine, in and through which Adionsail fhalj he Salihed, giving forth only a fmall quantity of Rehnous Gum, inlipid Flegm, and a foul Earth; the whole then being Difcillable in a Fire Of the third Degree, as Spirit of Nitre, or Spirit^ of Salt and in this yon have the true Vertue of the whole Body of Salt and Oyl, fragrant, jet very different froffithofe Volatile and flight Oleofkms, now a days made; for thefe have only the Light and Vo¬ latile Parts of the Saline, Oleous and Uri¬ nous Spirits afeend, the Effential and Seminal Iparts remaining below, feed and united j id O Which
