![PERIPNEUMONIA NOTHA. H E peripneumonia notha, the baftard peripneumony, or humoral a'fthma,, is a difeafe of a very different and oppofite nature to the true. It has Its origin from a weakened and relaxf- ed ftate of the veffels of the lungs, and a pitu- itous lentor or glutinous difpofition of the fluids, ftagnating in and obftru^ting the vef- fels and glandular follicules ; and hence the caufes, whicn have been before afligned as produdlive of too vifeid a ftate of the fluids, will likewife prove the antecedents to this difeafe, efpecially if the cutaneous perfpira- tion fhould be fuppre{red,ei«-herby the winter’s cold or any other occanonal caufe. The indications of cure will confift in atte- nuating and expelling the pituitous colluvies, and ftrengthening the habit in genera], and the lungs in particular, to prevent a relapfe. To anfwer thefe intentions, the remedies, recommended for the cure of a fpontaneous gluten, or a pituitous lentor in the velTeJs and vifeera, will be moft advifeable. See pag.. 28, 29. As the caufes of a peripneumonia notha are analogous to thofe which have been recited as giving rife to glutinous vifeidity, and the cure of confequence the fame.
